When I first started publishing Field Notes in February 2026, my first concern was this:
Can I continue to publish an issue every single month, and will people actually pay me for it?
I knew this was possible. I see Ben Settle doing it. I see Daniel Throssell doing it.
And as soon as I recite those names to myself, I inevitably think… but those guys are GIANTS!!!
So, allow me to give you the first lesson I wish to share with you in this issue of Filed Notes; a lesson I learned from Gary Halbert via his book, How to Make Maximum Money in Minimum Time.
In this book, in section 2, titled: How to Get a Product to Sell If You Don’t Have One Already And How to Get It For Nothing…
Halbert writes:
And that’s it, isn’t it? It doesn’t matter what giants are doing. Giants didn’t start out as giants. Not everybody likes those giants. You have agency. You have your thoughts and your ideas. If you’re a member of the Vault, chances are there are some people who have signaled that they like what you put out. And that’s all that matters. All you have to do is collect more of those people and keep them with you.
Just starting out? Just take my word that it can and it will happen, as long as you have this secret sauce.
And this secret sauce is…
You’ve got to believe in the product you’re putting out.
Not only do you have to believe in it, but you have to absolutely love it; be proud of it. And keep striving to be prouder. Not because someone out there is already doing it, and maybe even doing it better… but because you know that you’ve given it your 100 per cent.
If you can do that, you’ll find a way to make things work in your favor.
With that said…
Let’s start with a few ideas I’ve tested to make, as Halbert would say, maximum money in minimum time.
First things first: a little bonus for ya…
